Take the fabric, place it around the bread basket to see how much you need, but leave at least 1 cm of fabric that you might always need in case you get a few steps wrong.
With white chalk you will draw the stitches where you will sew your creations. If you are not yet familiar with sewing, try copying designs perhaps taken from a magazine.
Suppose you want to sew little flowers, well our suggestion is to draw them with chalk first, so then you have to pass the needle and cotton thread inside.
Be careful not to over-mark the design with chalk to avoid unwanted outlines once the stitching is finished.
With needle and thread, make cross stitch to create your little flowers.
Finally, attach the lining to the outside and inside of your basket by making invisible knots at both ends.
Alternatively, you can make fabric flowers to sew onto the fabric lining the bread basket.
An ideal solution especially for those who are not yet practical with needle and thread.
The fabric we suggest for making flowers is felt.
The first step is to create flower-shaped paper patterns or look them up on the Internet and print them out.
Cover the paper pattern with your chosen fabric and attach it with pins, finally cut out the shape.
Perform this step 4 or 5 times in order to create more layers for your flowers.
Once you have created 4 or 5 layers for each flower at a time, place them on top of each other in an obligatory manner, this way all the colors and shades of the flowers you designed will be seen.
Finally, with needle and thread of the same color as your chosen fabric, sew the flowers.
But it didn't end there!
Sew the flowers to the outside of your bread basket liner and you will have given it that original and imaginative touch that will leave diners pleasantly amazed!
